Wagon Flex Fuel to be showcased at Auto Expo 2023 The flex fuel prototype of Maruti Suzuki’s best-selling hatchback WagonR was showcased at Autoo 2023. This model was earlier showcased at the SIAM Ethanol Technology Exhibition in December 2022.
According to Maruti, Suzuki Motor Corporation helped design and develop the WagonR flex fuel version. Petrol and ethanol have been mixed in this concept car.
E20 (twenty percent) and E85 (eighty percent) are both available levels.

Engine & Power
A 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine powers the Maruti WagonR flex fuel prototype. Several types of fuel can be used including E20, E85 and ethanol. The engine produces 88.5 bhp and 11Nm of torque,
Hence Maruti Suzuki has changed its petrol engine to avoid the corrosive nature of ethanol. The motor also gets advanced fuel system technologies like ethanol sensor to detect ethanol percentage
and a heated fuel rail for cold start assist. It has also been updated with fuel injectors, fuel pump and engine management system. BS6 Phase II with its powertrain
The emission norms are also fully met. Manual transmission is featured on the prototype.
Compared to a regular ICE-powered WagonR, the ethanol-powered WagonR can reduce tailpipe emissions by up to 79 percent. There will be no difference in power or performance between the regular petrol variant and this variant.
The first Maruti Suzuki flex fuel model will be launched in 2025 and will be in the compact segment. The March 2023 deadline for E20 compliance is being reported in the media.
The country’s CNG product portfolio will also be expanded by Maruti Suzuki. This will help the company to bring strong hybrid models and pure-electric vehicles to the market in the near future.
