Tanmay Vekaria, who plays the character of ‘Bagha’ in the popular TV show ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’, is very much liked by the audience. Recently, in an interview, he had a special conversation about his journey in this show. The actor said that even today people know him as Bagha and this is a blessing for him.
Tanmay Vekariya considers himself lucky
In an interview given to ‘Times of India TV’, Tanmay Vekariya said, ‘I consider myself lucky that I am a part of such a show whose every character has become famous in every household. This is like ‘Sholay’. When I was young, I knew those characters only as Gabbar and Samba. Many years later I came to know that their real names were Amjad Khan and Mac Mohan. I think this is a big achievement. When a character becomes so famous that people start recognizing you by the same name, it is like a blessing.
‘There is a tiger, only then there is concentration’
He said, ‘I have no problem if people call me Bagha instead of Tanmay. There is a tiger, only then there is concentration. Playing the character of Bagha has given me a lot of love and recognition. In real life, I am completely different from the character of Bagha. Her body language, hairstyle and way of talking are all different from me. For me, being known as a Bagha is a blessing, and that’s how I look at it.
Talk about new Nattu Kaka
Talking about Nattu Kaka i.e. Ghanshyam, he said, ‘I spent 10 years with Ghanshyam ji. We lived in the same room, went to events together and had a father-son like relationship. After his demise, when the team was searching for a new Nattu Kaka, Asit Bhai asked me for my opinion. He gave two names, in which Kiran Bhatt’s name was also included. I told him, ‘Kiran Bhatt is the best choice.’
What did Tanmay Vekariya say about Rakesh Bedi?
Tanmay Vekariya said in the conversation, ‘I have known Rakesh Bedi for many years. I did small roles in ‘Yes Boss’ and later worked in ‘Moneyben.com’, where I played Smriti Irani’s younger brother. Rakesh ji was a part of a track in that show, and that’s when we got to know each other better. Of course, I had seen him long before that in shows like ‘Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi’ and films like ‘Ek Duje Ke Liye’ on televin.
He said, ‘At that time I knew him only as a talented actor. Whenever we meet, he never behaves like a senior or a big star. Rakesh ji has worked in TV, films and theater for decades and is still working today. Even at the age of 71, he is doing great work.
Smriti Irani’s date said this
Talking about Smriti Irani, he said, ‘One day, I was leaving after finishing my shoot when I saw Smriti’s car passing by. Our eyes met, and I wasn’t sure whether she would recognize me after all these years. But he recognized me. He stopped his car and I got down to meet him. We took some pictures and talked for a while. She hasn’t changed a bit. It is the same even today.
