There was a stir on Friday after receiving false information about a bomb in an Indigo flight from Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport to Ahmedabad. After a hand-written threatening note was found in the toilet of the plane, the security agencies immediately evacuated the plane and conducted an intensive search operation for about two hours. After no suspicious object was found in the investigation, the flight was allowed to depart. The police have registered an FIR in the matter and started investigation.
Threatening note found in toilet
According to the police, Indigo flight 6E-6423 was to fly from Bengaluru to Ahmedabad at 8 pm on July 16. Before takeoff, at around 7:35 pm, a crew member found a slip in the front toilet of the plane. Handwritten on it was, “Don’t Go. Bomb Hai, Please.” As soon as the note was received, there was an atmosphere of chaos in the plane.
Intensive investigation lasted for two hours
After receiving the threat, immediate action was taken under the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) related to aviation security. Keeping in mind the safety of passengers and crew, security agencies conducted a thorough search of the aircraft for more than two hours. During the investigation, no bomb or suspicious object was found in the plane. After this, the officials considered this threat as a rumor and allowed the plane to take off.
Indigo lodged a complaint
After the incident, Indigo Airlines lodged a complaint at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIAL) police station. The airline said the false threat affected flight operations and raised serious concerns about the safety of passengers, crew and aircraft. The company has identified the person who made the threat and has demanded strict legal action against him.
Police started investigation
The police have registered an FIR based on the complaint of the airline. Officials say that investigation is being done to find out who wrote the note and what was its purpose. CCTV footage of the airport premises and other technical evidence are also being examined so that the accused can be identified.
